Are you passionate about fostering safer, cohesive communities? Coventry City Council is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Community Safety – Communities Lead. This pivotal role is integral to delivering local crime and disorder strategies and ensuring the city’s residents thrive in a secure and resilient environment.
As the Communities Lead, you will act as the driving force behind initiatives that tackle Anti-Social Behaviour, vulnerability to exploitation and low-level criminality. You will bring to life the operational aspects of key policies, plans, and procedures, ensuring the Council is ready to address any community safety challenges that arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to promote community safety and engagement across Coventry.
- Lead initiatives to address Anti-Social Behaviour, vulnerability to exploitation, and low-level criminal activity within communities.
- Translate policies and plans into operational deployment, ensuring readiness to respond to evolving community safety issues.
- Collaborate with partners, including the police and other key stakeholders to build robust relationships that enhance community resilience and safety.
- Monitor and report on the impact of safety initiatives, using data to inform strategies and improve outcomes for all residents.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

- Be deeply committed to fostering community engagement and resilience.
- Coordinate Community Safety activity on behalf of the local authority, including partnership plans across both statutory and non-statutory partners.
The Community Safety Team at Coventry City Council plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. They work to address a wide range of issues, from crime prevention and anti-social behaviour to community cohesion. By collaborating with local partners, organisations, and residents, the team implements strategic initiatives that foster a sense of security and trust within the community.
Special Requirements:
- Appointment as a Prevent Co-ordinator is subject to a satisfactory DBS Enhanced Check and obtaining HM Government Security Check (SC) clearance 35.
- Appointment to this post is also subject to obtaining Non Police Personal Vetting Level 2 clearance 36.
