Senior Quantity Surveyor – Sevenoaks, Kent
FM Conway is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial Function, which provides expert commercial support across all ten of our operational divisions. Initially, you will support our Consultancy Division, where you’ll play a key role in delivering high-value, strategic advice on commercial and contractual matters. Once established, there will be opportunities to work across our wider operational teams, gaining diverse experience and contributing to the success of varied schemes in other divisions. You’ll be responsible for confident decision-making through expert insights, driving performance with strategic cost and value management, leading commercial activities from inception through to final account, and overseeing change control and risk management to ensure maximum value for our clients. This is a permanent, full-time position based at our Head Office in Sevenoaks, Kent.
The duties of the Senior Quantity Surveyor role will include:
-Leading risk, value management, and cost control initiatives to optimise contract performance and drive commercial success
-Developing and executing robust procurement strategies, including detailed cost-value analysis and effective subcontractor engagement
-Ensuring compliance with contract frameworks and current legislation, while maintaining document control and high standards
-Monitoring and reporting on financial performance, including cost forecasting, value tracking, and proactive cashflow management
-Managing and mentoring the commercial team across your projects, fostering growth, accountability, and best-in-class delivery
What skills and experience do you need?
We’re seeking an enthusiastic and committed Senior Quantity Surveyor with an extensive background in the construction, civil engineering, or highways sectors. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of operating at a senior level, with the ability to quickly pick up and manage existing or legacy projects, ensuring continuity, commercial integrity, and project success. You will hold a degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) and possess solid working knowledge of JCT, ICE, and NEC forms of contract. While not essential, holding a valid CSCS card would be highly desirable.
