About the role 

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of adopted children and young people? If so this exciting and rare opportunity is for you.

The Regional Adoption Agency (RAA) is looking for a Social Worker to join our service on a full-time, fixed-term, 9 month contract. The role will be based in our specialist Family Finding Team, a small team comprising of four social workers (two as Senior Practitioners), a team manager and one business support officer who works across the service. You will be responsible for collating information about children and young people and identifying suitable adoptive families who can best meet the child’s specific health, emotional, and developmental needs.

The team are based in Scott House in Huntingdon, with opportunities for homebased working and to access offices at Sand Martin House in Peterborough. Flexible hours/working pattern can be considered on appointment.

The Family Finding team are part of the Regional Adoption Agency (RAA), Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Adoption, and serve both Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It is a fantastic time to join us in the RAA following a continued period of stability and growth. About you 

To be successful in this role you will have an understanding of relevant Adoption legislation and knowledge of the factors that lead to improved outcomes for care experienced children and young people. 

You will also be able to demonstrate that you have the ability to manage a complex caseload and achieve positive outcomes for the county’s most vulnerable residents.

You will be a confident and dynamic individual who enjoys making a difference, are curious in your practice and enjoy building relationships with Carers and Children. 

You must:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker with a Social Work England registration
  • Have the ability to work from a variety of locations and travel countywide and beyond independently
