Who are we?
WRAP is a global environmental action NGO championing the shift towards a circular economy, fundamentally reshaping how we produce, consume, and manage resources. Our vision is a world transformed, in which Circular Living is commonplace. Where the systems that provide our everyday goods contribute to the world’s prosperity and sustainability instead of reducing it.
WRAP is driving Circular Living through four key areas: accelerating the circular economy, future-proofing food, preventing problem plastics and transforming textiles. We catalyse action from policy makers, businesses, NGOs and citizens to make it happen.
We have offices in the UK, USA and Australia, and live projects in over 30 countries.
Join us at WRAP and you’ll drive important change to make Circular Living the norm.
The role
As a Textile Specialist, you will provide WRAP with the technical knowledge and industry expertise to deliver our aspirations for System Transformation across our UK Textile Pact and International textiles projects. Specifically, you will focus on activities to transform the UK’s post-consumer textiles system by working with WRAPs partners to improve textile collection and sortation, enabling reuse and recycling, boosting the use of recycled content and minimising textile going to residual waste streams.
With the re-launch of the UK Textile Pact Roadmap, and the expansion of WRAPs International textiles work, this is an exciting time to join WRAP. You will be joining a team of textile specialists who are dedicated to embedding circularity and sustainability into the industry. You will also be part of a wider multidisciplinary team of experts across WRAP supporting industry, government and other stakeholders to support the transformation of the textiles system.
Who are we looking for?
- Ability to build effective relationships within necessary industry representatives at all levels, to develop initiatives on adopting new best practice.
- Ability to influence and support stakeholders (businesses, governments, local authorities and others) to develop plans and guidance to achieve impact.
- Ability to translate complex information into impactful policy, advice, and initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, including experience of explaining complex and technical challenges to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to work individually, as well as functioning within a dynamic and ambitious programme team, including working alongside technical experts in each field.
- The role will be focussed on maximising the value of used textiles and minimising the volume of textile materials going to landfill. Expertise in this aspect of the textiles system is welcome.
