Description: Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is keen to broaden your skills and knowledge in a high performing team? Do you enjoy working with people, managing priorities and curious about how local democracy works?
 
If so, we are seeking a 12-month fixed term Elections Support Officer to join our ambitious driven team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of our democratic process, deliver local and national elections and compiling and producing the electoral register.
 
What you’ll do:

Help support the team to deliver key statutory functions relating to elections and referenda.
Help support the team in the delivery of registration, the annual canvass and democratic engagement activities.
Assist with identifying and coordinating initiatives to participate in the democratic process.
Provide the main front line customer service and office duty support to the service.
Work closely with elected Members, prospective candidates and internal/external stakeholders.

 
What you’ll bring:

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work confidently with Councillors, officers, and external stakeholders.
Have accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
IT proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms (e.g. Teams).
Positive ‘can do’ passion and enthusiasm for their work.
Flexibility to work outside normal hours during busy periods, such as elections or evening council meetings.
