Design Authority Industrial Placement – Gloucester, UK

The Opportunity
This 12-month placement offers a starting salary of £24,500 and the chance to work within our Design Authority team. You’ll support the Sizewell B safety case team and contribute to safe generation at the UK’s only operating PWR station.
You’ll gain exposure to short-term and long-term projects, with a particular focus on mechanical or structural integrity issues affecting the safety case for the plant. You’ll also have opportunities to visit operating nuclear stations and collaborate with EDF’s engineering teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
During your Placement, you’ll work with the Design Authority team to undertake reviews and analyses in support of safety assessments of for example the reactor pressure vessel or other components.
You’ll communicate with colleagues across the fleet, contribute to technical documentation, and take part in training to deepen your understanding of nuclear plant and engineering. This placement offers a unique opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting.
Your Work Location
Our #Gloucester office will be your main location, with hybrid working available throughout the placement. You’ll also have opportunities to visit nuclear power stations across the UK.
Who You Are
To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant science or engineering degree.

Security Vetting
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
