About the role
Make a Difference as an EHC Caseworker – Supporting Children and Young People with SEND
West Northamptonshire Council’s Education, Health and Care (EHC) Team is expanding to meet the increasing demands within the SEN sector and is seeking passionate, dedicated EHC Caseworkers to support children, young people, and their families through statutory Special Educational Needs and Disabilities processes.
You’ll work closely with professionals across education, health, and social care to create high-quality, person-centred Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) that focus on positive outcomes and preparing for adulthood.
This is a dynamic, rewarding role where you’ll take responsibility for progressing individual cases, driving multi-agency collaboration, and managing the administration of EHC Plans across West Northamptonshire.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children and Adults Barred List check. West Northamptonshire Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
About you
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have experience working with children, young people, and families in a professional capacity.
- Can demonstrate empathy, resilience, and the ability to guide families through complex processes.
- Are confident in interpreting professional advice and producing clear, outcome-focused documentation.
- Possess excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
- Have a good understanding of SEND legislation and person-centred planning (or are eager to develop knowledge ).
Interview Preparation
We know interviews can be daunting, so we will let you know exactly what to expect on the day.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview where they will be assessed against the person specification.
Please come prepared to discuss your experience, demonstrate your understanding of SEND processes, and respond to scenario-based questions.
Shortlisted candidates will also be provided with a task on the day of the interview for which preparation is not required.
