Engineering Operations Supervisor

Are you an experienced rail operations professional looking to take the next step in your career? We’re seeking a proactive Shunting Supervisor to support safe, compliant and efficient shunting operations across our sites.

This is a key frontline leadership role, supporting the Area Manager and guiding a team of 20 Shunters to deliver high safety standards, strong performance, and excellent operational discipline.

What You’ll Do

• Provide daily supervision, support and direction to Shunting teams

• Foster a positive culture focused on safety, engagement and wellbeing

• Ensure safe and compliant operations across all sites

• Conduct scheduled and ad-hoc safety and performance inspections

• Support roster management to ensure effective coverage

• Maintain and monitor staff competence records

• Lead or support investigations into incidents and near misses

• Assist with training delivery and competence assessments

• Work with internal/external stakeholders to support operational planning

• Participate in on-call duties as required

What You’ll Bring

• Strong knowledge of rail operational procedures and safety standards

• Understanding of rostering processes and depot operations

• Experience supporting cultural change and continuous improvement

• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills

• IT literacy (Word, Excel, Access)

• Full UK driving licence

• Ability to achieve Shunter competency within 6 months
