Finished Goods Operative – Droylsden 

We are recruiting for an experienced Finished Goods Operative for our site in Droylsden.

You will be required to work based on a 4on 4off shift pattern.

 

Key Responsibilities 

Operational Duties
  • Machinery & Plant Operation: Be proficient in operating all machinery and plant essential to the business unit, ensuring their safe and efficient use.
  • Maintenance:
     
    • Conduct daily and weekly checks on machinery and plant.
  •  
    • Perform refuelling, lubrication, and greasing as needed to maintain operational standards.
  •  
    • Promptly record and report any defects or breakdowns to ensure timely resolution.
  •  
  • Production Reporting: Accurately report daily production output and any downtime to the Operations Manager for review and action.

 Safety & Compliance
  • Work Environment:
     
    • Maintain a safe and organized workspace, ensuring walkways and emergency exits are free of obstructions.
  •  
    • Always use the appropriate safety equipment and PPE.
  •  
  • Incident Reporting: Immediately report:
     
    • Non-conforming wastes or contamination delivered to the site.
  •  
    • Accidents, incidents, near-misses, environmental hazards, and health & safety breaches to the relevant manager.
  •  
  • Permit Compliance: Verify that incoming loads comply with the site license and permitted waste types.
  • Stock Management: Oversee stock rotation processes to comply with site permit requirements.

 Continuous Improvement
  • Training: Undertake necessary training to expand capabilities, including the operation of additional machinery, equipment, or supervisory tasks.
  • Audits & Checks: Conduct random checks and audits on machinery under your remit to ensure compliance with operational standards.

 Flexibility & Business Continuity
  • Cover other operational roles as needed to ensure the continuity of business activities.
  • Engage in manual handling tasks to assist with waste management activities.

 Health & Safety
  • Take responsibility for personal health and safety, as well as that of colleagues potentially affected by your work actions.
  • Actively identify and report unsafe conditions to foster a safe workplace culture.
  • Adhere to the company’s management systems, safe systems of work, and legal requirements.

 

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise 

  • The ideal candidate will  ideally have experience operating Tele Handler or FLT.
  • Strong understanding of plant and machinery operations.
  •  Exceptional attention to detail in maintenance and safety protocols.
  • Effective communication and reporting skills.
  •  Proactive approach to problem-solving and incident management.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
