About the team & role:
The Public Health and Communities team at Gloucestershire County Council is recruiting a new Head of Portfolio. Reporting to the Assistant Director, you’ll join our dedicated Senior Leadership Team, working alongside the other Heads of Portfolio and our Public Health Consultants, to improve health outcomes and tackle health inequalities.
The post-holder will work flexibly across a range of programmes and will initially be based in the team’s ‘communities and wellbeing’ strand. Provisional work areas will include supporting the council’s strategic partnerships with the voluntary and community sector, developing place-based approaches to improve health and wellbeing, as well as leading commissioning in designated portfolio areas.
About you:
The successful candidate will have proven leadership skills, and senior level experience of working across a breadth of public health competencies. They will combine a track-record in commissioning with experience of leading multi-agency partnerships and working with communities to improve health outcomes.
As a Head of Portfolio, you’ll work flexibly and be prepared to take on other areas of work in response to business need. You will require political awareness, the resilience to manage a dynamic and fast-paced workload, and the credibility and communication skills to represent the team within the Council and with our external stakeholders.
