Head of Quality Management – Monument Place
About this role : –
The Head of Quality Management is responsible for leading the design, development and deployment of a comprehensive quality management strategy across the organisation. Sitting within the CFO business unit, this role will play a critical part in embedding a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence, driving efficiencies, streamlining processes, reducing waste, and delivering measurable improvements in performance and customer outcomes across GTR.
Duties to include :-
Project Finance Planning & Delivery
- Work with project managers, budget holders, and the Portfolio Office to develop accurate budgets, forecasts, and business cases, providing financial support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure financial plans are realistic, well-phased, and linked to delivery milestones and benefits.
Financial Control & Governance
- Oversee project spend, accruals, and cost allocation, ensuring compliance with GTR standards, DfT requirements, and public finance expectations.
- Drive cost efficiency by embedding challenge, tracking savings, and managing risks.
Insight & Reporting
- Provide clear, insight-led reporting to senior leaders, highlighting risks, opportunities, and performance against forecast.
- Monitor project KPIs, milestones, and financial outcomes to support continuous improvement.
Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted partner across Finance, Engineering, IT, Procurement, and Operations, supporting collaboration and long-term planning.
- Build financial understanding across non-finance teams through reviews, workshops, and guidance.
Skills, knowledge & experience:-
- Degree-level education in a relevant discipline; professional qualifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, ISO 9001) desirable.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance, compliance frameworks, risk management, and relevant rail industry regulations.
- Experienced in applying continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma – Black Belt preferred) within operational environments.
- Skilled in data-driven performance management, including KPIs, dashboards, root cause analysis, and process control.
- Proven track record in senior quality management or continuous improvement roles, ideally in transport, logistics, or regulated industries.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, engaging effectively with leaders, technical teams, and frontline staff.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, able to translate complex issues into actionable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and embed continuous improvement and cultural transformation.
