Overview

SHAPING GREAT PLACES

At Futures we’re committed to providing our customers with the best service possible on our mission to deliver ‘Great Places’, ‘Great Services’ and ‘Great Tomorrows’.

We’re looking for a Head of Technical to join our Development team and play a key role in making sure our new homes and development schemes are safe, compliant, well designed and built to the standards our customers deserve. Your technical judgement, curiosity and ability to bring people with you will really matter here.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced technical leader who enjoys solving complex construction challenges, shaping quality and helping teams make confident decisions across development projects, while creating homes and communities people are proud to be part of.

Working closely with our new business and delivery teams, you’ll shape technical requirements, contribute to contract negotiations, review specifications, resolve design and delivery issues, and keep our documents up to date with building regulations, CDM, Homes England requirements and other statutory changes.

You’ll also be a trusted technical voice on fire standards, adoption arrangements, contractor performance, legacy projects, risk, quality and information flow. Just as importantly, you’ll mentor colleagues, share your expertise and help us learn from every scheme so future projects are even stronger.

This role would suit someone with strong technical expertise across construction and development, sound knowledge of buildings and fire safety, and experience working with JCT and NEC contracts. You’ll understand development, procurement, regulation and risk, while bringing the confidence to build trusted relationships with consultants, contractors, developers, house builders and colleagues across Futures.

We know people can sometimes rule themselves out if they don’t meet every requirement. If your skills, experience and approach feel like a good match, we’d love you to apply.

A few key things you’ll be doing:

  • Own and maintain Futures’ Development Specification, employer’s requirements and standard technical documents.
  • Work with new business and delivery teams on contracts, specifications, warranties, bonds and risk mitigation.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, review design changes and work with project teams to keep schemes moving.
  • Develop our fire standards for new projects and lead the standard appointment requirements for fire engineers.
  • Improve processes that help manage risk, quality, complexity and information flow.
  • Contribute to our sustainability ambitions by exploring innovative construction methods and low carbon solutions where appropriate.

Sounds like me, so what are you offering?

If you’re successful, you’ll be joining a supportive organisation with a great culture and a real commitment to doing things well. We offer competitive benefits, great opportunities to grow and develop, and the chance to shape homes and communities that will make a lasting difference.

This is a 37 hour per week role, paid monthly. You’ll also get 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and concessionary days at Christmas, along with private healthcare options, discount schemes and a strong focus on health and wellbeing.

We’ve been awarded the coveted Investor in People Platinum award, the highest level of IiP accreditation, recognising organisations that are passionate about helping colleagues feel supported, valued and able to do their best.
