Introducing Amplify U 

Amplify U is our Early Talent Programme at Universal Music Group UK. It helps build a sustainable and inclusive talent pipeline by equipping emerging professionals with real-world experience, industry insight and the skills to forge a career in music. 

 

Our Internship Overview 

The Amplify U Internship is a structured, 12-month paid programme open to individuals aged 18 and over who demonstrate a strong interest in a career in the music industry. Interns are placed within specific departments and will gain meaningful, hands-on experience while developing professionally and personally through curated development sessions, projects and network-building opportunities. 

 

The Role 

Globe is Universal Music UK’s multifaceted creative agency, production company and sync team. Globe has the ability to create exceptional content with excellent audience engagement. The 3 pillars of the business include: 

 

Brand partnerships – creating original media moments and campaigns for brands using music to engage audiences. From concept and strategic development through to campaign execution, Globe manages all aspects of collaborations with the world’s biggest artists 

 

Creative productions – producing both long and short-form programming in the UK specialising in music and entertainment. Working closely with our partners at Mercury Studios, Globe works with all the main broadcasters and digital platforms, producing award-winning programmes across a wide variety of genres 

 

Sync – representing the world’s largest commercial music catalogue, Globe provide creative licensing solutions across advertising, film, TV and computer games. Services include rights negotiation and licensing, music supervision and the creation of bespoke music pieces to brief 

  • Co-ordinating the signing and storage of sync licenses 

  • Compiling the monthly financial reports using Excel 

  • Managing sync requests for podcasts, film festivals, charities, corporate, stage shows and exhibitions 

  • Assisting with music briefs across advertising, tv, film and computer games 

  • Managing the music library 

  • Sending WAV files to clients for their productions 

  • Updating sync database with music briefs 

  • Creating presentations & artist decks using Google Docs and PowerPoint 

  • Assisting in managing Globe’s social media output 

  • Covering phones, diary management, booking bikes & couriers, travel arrangement, etc 

  • Liaising with labels on ticket orders for the department, updating calendars and spreadsheets 

  • General admin support for the Globe sync team 

 

 

Learning & Development 

Throughout your internship, you will benefit from: 

  • A dedicated onboarding experience, including UMG UK immersion and coaching 

  • A Lumina Spark strengths profile and one-to-one coaching session 

  • Quarterly soft skills workshops (e.g. presenting, time management) 

  • Networking sessions with professionals across UMG UK 

  • Intern shadowing days and unique industry experiences 

  • Ongoing check-ins and final internship review with career planning support 

 

Who you are: 

  • Passionate about music and music video content, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude   

  • Desire to pursue a career within the creative fields of a label, previous experience highly advantageous   

  • Proven experience of working effectively and efficiently under pressure in a calm and organised manner   

  • Knowledge of the UK music landscape & new talent within it  

  •  Professional, proactive and flexible approach to work – ability to prioritise, multi-task & pre-empt problems before they occur   

  • Excellent track record of working to strict deadlines & maintaining a high standard of attention to detail   

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels   

  •  Strong problem-solving skills   

  •  Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships both internally and externally   

  • Team player able to work on own initiative   

  • Ability to deal with situations discreetly & confidentially   

  • Able to demonstrate a tactful and diplomatic approach   

  • Experience in using in house computer systems and packages including Excel, Word and Outlook
