Role responsibilities

To lead a high impact analytics team to drive performance improvements across the business. The role combines strategic leadership, technical expertise, and stakeholder engagement to translate complex data into actionable insights that shape operational and customer outcomes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Deliver strategic reporting and analysis to the Executive and Senior Leadership management team, enabling data-driven decision making across Operations, Customer, Fleet, Network Rail, and partner organisations.
  • Transform complex insights into actionable recommendations through clear, high-impact storytelling tailored for executive forums and daily operational briefings.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and coach managers, leaders and data users to ensure alignment with strategic priorities, driving continuous improvement initiatives informed by data. Enhance their knowledge in data literacy, data quality, strategic performance and decision making, while embedding effective feedback loops.
  • Lead the Performance Improvement data workstream, developing strategic initiatives that target reductions in Passenger Time Lost, enhance On-Time performance, minimise cancellations and short formations, and improve overall service reliability.

Who we’re looking for

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with large datasets.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, SQL, Python/R, and MS Office.
  • Deep understanding of rail performance processes and systems (e.g., TRUST, Bugle).
  • Proven leadership and influencing skills at senior levels.
  • Ability to translate data into action through storytelling and strategic engagement.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
