Plant Manager – SDA – Toomebridge 

The SDA (Small Domestic Appliance) Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the SDA plant located in Toomebridge. 
 
The role is critical to ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, while also achieving operational efficiency. This person will play a key role in leading the site team, improving plant performance, and maintaining Enva’s high standards in waste management solutions. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Operational Management:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the SDA plant.
  • Monitor and optimise plant performance to meet production and efficiency targets.
  • Manage the treatment, processing, and disposal of solid and hazardous waste in compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor performance metrics (KPIs) to improve operational output.
 
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
  • Ensure that all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, ensuring proper safety measures and equipment are in place.
  • Lead initiatives to continuously improve safety culture within the plant.
 
Leadership and Team Management:
  • Manage and develop the site team, ensuring a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and development initiatives for plant staff.
  • Act as the key liaison between plant employees, senior management, and external stakeholders.
 
Budgeting and Cost Control:
  • Develop and manage the plant’s operational budget.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving and operational efficiencies without compromising quality or safety.
 
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the plant, particularly in terms of efficiency, cost reduction, and environmental impact.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and legislative changes to ensure the plant remains competitive and compliant.
  • Establish and Sustain a production environment that competes with ‘best in class’ status for SDA Recycling
 
Stakeholder Management:
  • Maintain effective communication with external stakeholders, including local authorities, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality waste management services in a timely manner.
 
This is not an exhaustive list.  You may also be required to carry out any other duties as required by the business that you are qualified/trained in that meet the requirements of this role.

Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week 

 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise 

Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in plant management, preferably within the waste management industry.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and managing complex operational environments.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental compliance in the waste management sector.

  • Solid understanding of waste management processes and relevant legislation.

Experience 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership role in a comparable, production- type environment 
Physical Demands
  • Ability to move around the plant, which may include walking long distances, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven surfaces.
  • Regularly moving between the office, plant floors, and outdoor areas to inspect equipment, monitor processes, or address issues.
  • Spending extended periods standing or walking around the facility to ensure compliance, oversee operations, or conduct inspections.
  • Occasional need to lift and carry light to moderate loads 
  • Handling small equipment or parts during inspections or minor adjustments.
  • Occasionally required to bend, crouch, or reach to inspect machinery, equipment, or plant infrastructure.
  • May need to climb ladders or platforms to access equipment or higher areas for inspection and maintenance checks.
