Our University

Ravensbourne University London is a dynamic institution at the intersection of creativity, business, and technology. Based in London’s Design District in the heart of North Greenwich, we are home to a diverse, global community in one of the world’s most vibrant business and creative hubs.

Over the last three years, RUL has tripled in size (from £28m turnover to £90m today).  As a result, and based on our new 2030 strategy, we are looking for an in-house Procurement Manager to join us and build a small resilient team.

The Role

This is a full time role, but we are keen to hear about candidates who would like to work on a part-time basis (0.8 FTE). Please note the salary advertised is for full time.

This is a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to make his/her mark in a Higher Education environment and implement best procurement practice in a fast growing organisation.  Reporting to the Director of Finance (DoF), the Procurement Manager will be the operational procurement lead for of the University and will be a key member of the Finance directorate. Once in place, the objective is to recruit a Procurement Officer to second the Procurement Manager.  Further support and assistance are available from the DoF as well as from our external procurement specialists from Ensemble Purchasing.  

This role is a great combination of practical all-round procurement activities including:

  • Tenders on major University-wide contracts
  • Departmental procurement activities
  • Procurement administration such as the development and maintenance of our various   registers (e.g. contracts, conflict of interest etc)
  • Ongoing business partnering with budget holders and buyers
  • Monitoring and reporting on current procurement policies and procedures
  • Management of systems and procurement information to enable better decision-making and value for money

The Candidate

You will need to bring the following to enable success:

  • A disciplined, systematic and principled approach to procurement
  • A good experience of leading tender activities across a wide range of categories, including public tenders and framework agreements, ideally from the HE sector
  • Be approachable, clear and friendly, partnering all stakeholders across academic and support services
  • A good understanding of finance, purchase order and procurement systems / portals (Agresso would be an advantage)
  • The ability to network effectively and be resilient
