We’re looking for a proactive and driven Production Leader (Projects) to play a key role in planning, leading, and delivering engineering overhauls and improvement projects across our network.

What you’ll do

As Production Leader (Projects), you’ll oversee the end-to-end delivery of engineering projects — from planning and resource allocation to quality, safety, and performance management.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Production Planning & Scheduling: Create and manage detailed production plans to meet project deadlines and improve future overhaul strategies.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, managing specification and risk assessment reviews.

  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure work meets required safety and quality standards through regular audits and inspections.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimise workflows using lean techniques and continuous improvement principles.

  • Resource Management: Quantify and manage personnel, tooling, and welfare resources needed for project success.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Fleet Technical, Production, Safety and Environmental teams to deliver best-in-class mobilisation.

  • Reporting: Maintain clear documentation and report regularly on progress, performance, and outcomes.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring:
✅ Proven experience leading engineering or production projects (ideally within transport, rail, or heavy engineering)
✅ Strong leadership and people management skills
✅ Excellent understanding of quality, safety, and process improvement principles
✅ Ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
✅ Clear communication and stakeholder management skills
