The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised globally as one of the best law schools in the world. The School has a long-standing reputation for excellence in the laws of England and Wales, European, International and Transnational Law. Our research interests cover all areas of public and private law.
These include the philosophy and sociology of law as well as doctrinal, empirical, historical, interdisciplinary, and comparative approaches to the study of law. We are seeking an organised, proactive and enthusiastic individual to join our Professional Services Research Team as Senior Research Operations Officer.
This role will allow the successful candidate to develop and expand their knowledge in the areas of research funding applications and management and research impact, providing them with a variety of valuable skills for future career progression.
About the role
- To work closely with the Research Development Manager (RDM) and Senior Research Operations Manager, in the provision of high-level preaward support to academic staff, providing expert guidance on project logistics, funder regulations, and internal processes and policies.
- To provide expert support to academic colleagues in the preparation of applications using the College research management system (Worktribe), and funder portals (Flexigrant, Je-S.)
- To support academic staff throughout the grant submission process ensuring compliance with funder and College policies, creating budgets, coordinating internal processes, and ensuring applications are progressed in a timely manner to meet internal and external deadlines.
- To maintain accurate records of grant applications and to support data collection and progress tracking using the cross-faculty application tracker.
- To provide post-award support in the day-to-day financial administration of internal grants, including booking travel and supporting purchases in line with funder and college policies using College purchasing and financial management systems (KFIN.)
- To assist the Vice Dean (Research), Research Professor, and Research Management in the promotion and implementation of the School’s research strategy.
- To assist in the management of awards, providing support with the institutional research repository (PURE) and advising on open access.
- To maintain and monitor research budget activity using KFIN and local trackers, and ensuring adherence to College financial policies and procedures.
- To act as committee administrator for the School Research Committee, providing high-level administrative support to the Chair.
- To work with School operations and engagement teams to maintain accurate information resources, such as the School research webpages, and SharePoint for researchers
- To assist in the organisation and promotion via email and web pages of the School’s research seminars, and other grant-funded events.
- To support annual and occasional reporting on the School’s research activities, such as REF, ResearchFish, and audits as required.
- To provide cover for the PGR/PhD Research Officer, and to support periods of high workload.
- To support the School Research Manager (Impact) providing administrative support for a programme of seminars and engagement activities.
- To build and maintain effective relationships with academic and professional services staff across the college including by participation in college networks.
This is a full time post (35 hours per week), offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
