The School of Design and Creative Arts requires a new colleague to teach within the Textile Design programme. This is a teaching role on the highly regarded undergraduate degree programme in Textile Design. This is an intensive teaching post that will deliver a variety of skills, specialist knowledge and procedural practice in support of project briefs and assessment tasks to significant student numbers. The post holder will work closely with Academic and Technical staff in developing high quality pedagogic approaches in facilitating the taught programmes, and to ensure outcomes of high standard.
The Textile Design programme based in the School of Design and Creative Arts at Loughborough has an excellent reputation both nationally and internationally, with outstanding graduate prospects and a good recruitment track record. The well-established team has a commitment to high quality teaching and the programme has topped the national ranking in the Guardian League table 2021-2025 Fashion & Textiles category, as number 1 in the UK.
The successful applicant will be able to contribute to the top-ranked Textile Design programme through teaching, tutoring, programme recruitment activities, curriculum planning, and more to support current and future students on the course. Key skills and knowledge would be around sustainability, technical testing and material knowledge, visual and contextual research, connecting concepts through culture, social issues and history, and specialist practical expertise in weave, print, dye/colouration, stitch/construction/embellishment, or knit.
Key Requirements:
We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and highly organised individual who will work effectively and collaboratively within the Textile Design Team.
- Experience of teaching Textile Design at a higher education level.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have a degree in a related subject or equivalent experience.
