36hrs per week Full Time

Location: Richmond or Wandsworth Council (This role requires regular travel for home visits and a minimum of two days per week working from the office and minimal home working).

About the role

Are you a compassionate and detail-oriented Visiting Financial Assessment Officer? 

Join our Financial Assessment Team within the Adult Social Care and Public Health Directorate. This is a customer-facing role focused on supporting vulnerable residents across Richmond and Wandsworth boroughs by conducting home visits, completing financial assessments, and helping individuals maximise their benefits.

As a Visiting Officer, you will support service users and their representatives through the financial assessment process, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and the council’s charging policies. You’ll conduct home visits where necessary, assist with completing forms, verify financial information, and provide clear guidance on contributions towards care costs. You’ll work closely with internal teams to resolve queries, maintain accurate records, and ensure assessments are completed promptly and in line with legislation and council procedures. You will need to be able to manage conflict and 

No Previous Visiting Officer Experience Required

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Is confident working independently and managing a varied caseload.
  • Has strong numerical and analytical abilities.
  • Is comfortable conducting home visits and working with vulnerable adults.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience in Adult Social Care financial assessments or similar fields.
  • Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and social care charging policies.
  • Understanding of deferred payments and welfare benefits.
